He has finalized the team going to Russia now, with defender Mamadou Sakho, midfielders Moussa Sissoko and Kingsley Coman, and strikers Anthony Martial and Alexandre Lacazette failing to make it off the preliminary roster.

Les Bleus, buoyed by a ton of young talent all emerging at once, will go there on the back of a strong performance in Group A in UEFA qualifying. They did have a couple of notable bobbles, but the right team went straight through in the end. Wobbles would sum up the USA's efforts to make it. They did not do anywhere near what they were capable of, and they were punished to finish fifth in the Hexagonal.
